If you live in the South, do you remember the old restaurant Steak and Ale?! It was my family's absolute favorite place to eat and we would often go there on Sundays after church! I remember the old English cottage decor and you haven't had a fabulous salad bar if you didn't have theirs... it was FABULOUS!!
This restaurant closed down in 2008. Want to know how I can remember the year it closed? I VIVIDLY remember the year because I was pregnant with my daughter, Baylor, and I began CRAVING Steak and Ale's Kensington Club steak. I talking a CRAVING like no other. I told my husband, "Is there any way you can try to figure out that marinade. I think I'm going to die if I don't have that steak." You know what I mean if you have ever been pregnant and had a craving- hahahahaha. So Ryan began doing some research and found a "copy cat" recipe and made it. I often say it was one way God has shown me how much He loves me... by providing that recipe to me. LOL.
My personal favorite is marinating steaks, but this marinade is delicious with chicken and pork too! And it's not only my favorite marinade, but has become a family favorite and my kids get so excited when we marinate anything with this marinade!! You HAVE to give it a try and tell me what you think. I predict it will become one of your family's favorites as well. :)
Here is the info for the recipe:
- 3 1/2 cups pineapple juice
- 1 cup soy sauce light soy sauce is ok
- 1 cup sherry you may use red wine
- 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Add up to five pounds of meat to the marinade. MUST marinate for 24 hours to get the best results, but you can do it as few as 6 hours. (*I never make it unless I have the full 24 hours to marinate)
